The Art Society for Youth Inc. mission is to “[provide] the youth with opportunities to obtain scholarships, educational workshops/programs and tools needed to pursue their passion for the arts while increasing their awareness of their diverse community.”

We were scheduled to interview Pert McFly, but being the ambitious young ladies we are, The Scene DMV decided to kill two birds with one stone and tag The Art Society for Youth’s founder De Lisa Patterson. It turned out to be a great interview and Ms. Patterson was a pleasure to speak to.

She went over the artist culture here in the area, why she started The Art Society for Youth and her plans for the organization in the future.
